William Ruto, Kenya’s Deputy President Journey to State House Unstoppable

Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday revealed that his 2022 journey to State House is unstoppable regardless of ‘Deep State or machinations of any kind.

Ruto’s sentiments come after the ruling party Jubilee vice-chairperson David Murathe endorsed Former Prime Minister and Orange Democratic Movement Party leader Raila Odinga as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor. He also stated that Kenyans should be ready for Raila Presidency.

Central Organization of Trade Union Secretary-General also joined in and rallied support for Raila in succeeding President Uhuru in 2022. “I have endorsed his proposal. Historically the person who has suffered for this country is Raila Odinga. I can tell you if he (Raila) agrees to run, by 10 am he would be the president,” said Atwoli.

Speaking to a section of leaders from Kajiado at his Karen residence in Nairobi, Ruto said he was ready for whatever obstacle the” Deep State” would bring forth.

“Tunatishiwa ati kuna system, ati Deep State, ati hata tukipiga kura watatuibia, kuna watu wameketi mahali fulani wanangojea, watakuja na deep state, tutakuja na wananchi na mungu,” Ruto said.

Translating to: “We are being threatened with Deep State, and even if we vote, they will steal our votes. There are some people seated somewhere waiting to come with the deep state; we will come with citizens and God,” Ruto said.

Ruto referenced to what happened in 2013, saying that he was threatened and if he was afraid, the Jubilee party wouldn’t have formed the government.

“In 2013, I was being threatened, if I was afraid, or if President Uhuru Kenyatta were afraid, we would have had the Jubilee government, it is the same thing we are being told now,” he added.

Ruto is among other Kenyan politicians who have expressed interest for presidency come 2022 elections.
