Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka Friday morning presented himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters to clear his name over land grabbing allegations levelled against him.
Addressing a rally in Bomet, Deputy President William Ruto accused Kalonzo of grabbing a 200acre piece of land belonging to the National youth service (NYS) in Yatta, Machakos County.
Kalonzo promised to voluntarily present himself before the detectives, following aspersions cast on his character by Deputy President William Ruto concerning the ownership of his land.
The former vice President dismissed Ruto’s claims saying, the allegations are cheap and desperate attempts at his character assassination.
“I uphold the highest moral and ethical standards in all my affairs. I have nothing to hide and today I challenge the authorities to open an investigation into this matter” He said in a statement on Monday (Jan 18).
He also challenged the DP to present himself for a thorough investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation as well as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, citing several of Ruto’s scandals that are in the public domain.
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has backed Kalonzo over the accusations which she dismissed as baseless.
“As the former Minister of Lands, I checked the details of that land and I found that actually, Kalonzo had acquired that land well.” Ngilu Said.
Ngilu also mentioned that Ruto instead is the greatest land grabber in the country.
