Nigeria—Napoli boss Luciano Spalleti says he will be counting and fully depend on Victor Osimen when in charge of the club.  Spalleti will officially start managing Partenopei next season after replacing former Italy international Gennaro Gattuso.

The former Roma boss met Osimhen for the first time this week and is already in plans to work with the 22-year old even as he expects him to improve on certain aspects of his normal game.

“We will rely on Osimhen, he is a pillar and strong power horse of the team, because he is a complete player from all points of view, having played internationally in the recent past and helped his former clubs stand out, we believe he will surely deliver.” Said the former Inter Milan manager.

“In addition to being able to score, he flavors his own game and gives his all. Above all, he is a good coordinator with his teammates and that has been seen. He fights for his teammates and it is very important for the rest of the squad because if he starts we can all see him.”

However, Spalleti believes the Nigerian striker needs to improve in some skills in order to sharpen further his striking position.

“It is clear that he must improve in some areas and we will try to stimulate him and work on these points and this is where we find an important answer, like today where we gave him a certain type of work and he did not flinch, he actually availed himself and completed the task. We understand he can’t master all trades but we believe in striking he has his record clear, and going by that we then anticipate exceptional results”, he added.

“It can’t be better than that” Osimeh scored two goals in twenty-four league games for Napoli last season.
