Fans celebrate as Nigerian artist Wizkid sells out O2 Arena tickets in 2 minutes

Nigeria—2021 Grammy award nominee, Wizkid, is currently trending at number one on Nigerian Twitter space after selling out his Made IN Lagos tour tickets in two minutes.

The concert will be held in London’s O2 arena, this is a welcome back show as the event center had been on a break due to covid-19.

The arena has a 20,000 sitting capacity and is the second-biggest in the UK after the Manchester hall.

Through his Instagram page, Wizkid disclosed selling out the tickets for the second date in 35 minutes.

The show initially had two dates for the concerts but due to much clamor by his fans, a third date has been added for star boy’s O2 concert as announced on Twitter by the official The O2 Arena Twitter handle.

The singer fondly known as Big Wiz has been experiencing a series of successes in his music career and lifting the Afrobeat genre high.

His song Essence is now called the song of the summer and topping the Shazam chart indicating frequent open-air play and curiosity in listeners not familiar with the artist.

It has spawned an official remix with Justin Bieber, and a growing body of freestyles and covers. TikTok dance videos set to it have captivated everyone from celebrities to fans, old and new alike.

The original song, which features Nigerian singer Tems in the opening verse and chorus, was first released in Oct. 2020 as a track on Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” album. Ten months later, the album peaked at number one on the Billboard world albums chart, becoming only the second African album—after Burna Boy’s “Twice as Tall”—to do so.
