The world’s biggest fashion event, the met Gala, will be making a come back on Monday, September 13 after two-years hiatus due to coronavirus. The event will be hosted by New York City.
Musicians, actors, and models are due to gather for the event which is typically held annually on the first Monday of May.
It is an evening where designers, models, and Hollywood stars convene to celebrate and fundraise at a new exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
Everyone dresses to the theme, and according to the feel, of the exhibit; past themes have included camp, religion, punk, and more.
The event will be hosted by co-chairs Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka and honorary chairs Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour.
Other than the celebrity co-chairs, no other stars have confirmed their attendance at the Met Gala. The Met Gala’s guest list has always been closely guarded, with attendees generally kept secret until the event itself.
The evening will also feature inspirational stories from the young people the agency serves, exciting auction prizes, and opportunities to make a significant impact on their mission virtually courtesy of Roots and Wings.
While New York City has not yet returned to a full mask mandate, in August Mayor Bill de Blasio issued a new mandate which will require proof of vaccination for a variety of activities including indoor dining, gyms, and performances.
A spokesperson for the Met told people that “Currently, all attendees at The Met Gala on September 13 must provide proof of full vaccination and will also be expected to wear masks indoors.”
“We will update these guidelines as needed.” He added.
The Met Gala 2022 will be held on May 5, 2022, and will be titled America: An Anthology of Fashion. Both shows will run through 5 September 2022.
