American singer Robert Sylvester Kelly popularly known as R. Kelly was convicted on racketeering, and sex trafficking charges on Monday by a New York federal court.

Nearly a dozen of Kelly’s victims presented their testimonies in the court to provide harrowing details of the abuse and mistreatment they suffered at the hands of the popular musician.

During the trial, the prosecutors said that “Robert Sylvester Kelly used his fame, his popularity, and the network of people at his disposal to target, groom, and exploit girls, boys, and young women for his sexual gratification.”

One of Kelly’s Defense team however expressed his disappointment at the government saying he hopes to appeal.
