The five-man committee, which was established in November 2021 to collect names and information of documented and verified orphans, concluded the payment of monies to the orphanages on February 15, the award-winning artist stated.
Davido revealed the entire names and locations of the 292 orphanages that benefited from the donation in a series of tweets.
Regha took to Twitter a few days after the “If” singer said that the monies had been disbursed to challenge him.
Because a big majority of the beneficiaries haven’t acknowledged Davido, the controversial Twitter user claims it’s impossible to accept his claim.
Regha wrote, “Davido claims the N250 million has been disbursed to 292 orphanages,” but “I find this hard to believe because over 95 percent of the beneficiaries have yet to acknowledge him.”
“Now, either the money hasn’t been distributed or the recipients are resentful. He went on to say, “There’s no indication the money was disbursed.”
Davido jokingly started fundraising on November 17, 2021, after challenging his colleagues in a video to give N1 million apiece to help him clear his Rolls Royce via the Lagos ports.
The singer admitted that he was surprised by the overwhelming response he received from Nigerians, who sent him not only money but also small mementos of their love and support.
Davido added that he was given N200 million for the challenge and decided to make a personal donation of N50 million, increasing the total to N250 million, which will be split among orphanages around the country.
